When I first decided to breed Siberians I got very confused & the more I researched the more confused I got. Also I began to realise breeding Siberians was going to be.... interesting......... to say the least between Traditional & Neva. The reasons I chose to breed Traditional (Aboriginal) Siberians are simple, each cat has a right to exist. I just believe they should be separate breeds.
1) The genetics behind colour point is to protect or deflect heat from certain parts of a cats body (why would a cat in a cold country need the points on the body?????) 2) Colour point colours originate from Persian, Siamese etc.....again genetics Aboriginal to Russia means a cat that can survive the harsh climates of Russia & the cats that produce the colour points just would not cope.
