We have had a few
enquiries now about exporting kittens so I wanted to do
this page for anyone looking to possibly export a kitten
from Katyenka Cattery. At Katyenka first and foremost is the health and
wellbeing of our kittens. We will of course
consider export but under strict guidelines and there is
many things to consider before we will go ahead.
Exporting kittens is a lengthy and expensive process and
sometimes is not as straight forward as we would like.
I have imported all of my cats into the UK and it was a very
stressful time for both the breeder the new owner and
the cats.
Long
haul countries and non EU countries have their own rules. These are different from European
countries and the European Pets Passport criteria.
In all cases where a kitten travels by air there is the cost of an I.A.T.A approved flight carrier box. Additional papers may include ownership transfer, certified pedigree documentation, exportation health certificate, these may be a standard format from our vet or they may be an official health certificate issued by DEFRA and completed by a ministry vet, some airlines on long haul flights require a health certificate also and some an affidavit to cover the stop over flights. Sometimes there are extra vaccinations and blood tests, micro - chipping, as well as special parasite treatments. If you would like to import one of our kittens - please familiarize yourselves with the necessary criteria by contacting your own Ministry of Agriculture and Veterinary Surgery to find out the rules that need to be met and please find out an approximate cost for all the extras especially flights before you ask us to reserve a kitten for you. Many expenses are stipulated by airline companies - government officials - and ministry veterinarians for the best interests and welfare of the kitten to make the journey as safe and comfortable as possible and these are unavoidable. We normally take deposits from kitten purchasers in the UK, however from an exportation perspective we will in most cases ask for an initial deposit to secure the reservation of any kitten going to another country which will be 50 percent of the cost. The full cost of the kitten is expected by the age of 12 weeks. Should the kitten purchaser change their minds there will be no refund of deposit. We do however reserve the right to change our minds on exporting a kitten, if this is the case the deposit paid by purchaser will be refunded in full, less bank transaction fees. Also will be other costs for the travel box passport blood tests Transportation to and from airports. and a small charge for keep The price of our kittens will include their vaccines for flu, enteritis , all other costs are extra. Apart from the initial cost of the kitten, criteria needs to be met and planned for. There is nothing worse for the kitten to find that once reserved for a period of some weeks the new owner has changed their mind at the last minute for whatever reason. So, please think seriously before embarking on a plan to import one of our kittens. It is in the kittens best interests to be placed into their new home as soon as they can. Any adjustment to changes in their environment is better served younger rather than older It is not so easy to sell an older kitten so please think carefully.
