My name is Tessa Reynolds & I have had experiences in my short life with many animals, the first being horses when I was working voluntary at a local stables at the age of 15. I had never ridden horses before, but from the young age of 10 was absolutely fascinated with them. I soon become pretty fascinated with horses & my riding skills was rapidly increasing. Horses will always be one of my favourite animals I have worked with in my life they have taught me lessons that are valuable in the animal kingdom. I have worked with cats now for around 13 years I started with a pet moggy kitten & slowly grew to rescue & re home cats as much as I could. This brought me to be owned by my first pedigree cat a Bengal as most breeders that soon grew to 5 Bengal's when I came across my first cat disease Leukaemia.
Some of my moggy cats & rescue cats
I went to visit the breeder when I purchased her & I trusted her & many other breeders. I do not know if this information is the same now as it was some 9 years ago. Breeders of Bengal's believed they didn't have to vaccinate against Leukaemia because they believed Bengal's had a natural defence. My Bengal became ill so I took her to the vet, they suspected Leukaemia & Elisa tested her positive..........That was the end for me with cats. I have also spent time working with birds of prey . This was extremely hard work when I was given a mouse to humanly kill for food. I was informed, to learn how to work with the birds I had to start from the bottom of the pile which was feeding, so I gritted my teeth & did the nasty deed.
I can certainly say there is nothing more exhilarating then handling such a powerful creature on your arm & then setting him off for flight & watching him soar & dive & glide & hunt..................very powerful.
I then began to gain an interest in reptiles I was very lucky to have a very experienced man who was highly sought by zoo's & vets around Britain. I again volunteered my time to gain this knowledge about snakes & lizards this was very hard work and the amount of skill and care that goes into looking after such exotic creatures is phenomenal, I was pleased I had this experience. My friend who breeds NFC's was asked to help bring in a breed of cat naturally evolved. A breed that had not yet entered the UK ................ the Siberian. So I researched and I fell in love & that's where my life got turned upside down but I still continue to this day ......... Why ? Because such a breed is deserving of my devotion, efforts tears & heartache, that's what breeding is all about. Disease after disease how to prevent, cure or be aware of the disease that has no cure. To pick yourself up after a fall (and believe me I have had many) I have been ignorant along the way sometimes stupid, sometimes naive. But not anymore................
